Sorting
Text
To automatically sort a list of
text, highlight the list and then click on the Table drop-down menu and
choose Sort
. It does not matter that your
text is not actually in a table, the Sort function will still work.
Choose whether you want to sort ascending or descending and whether the
list you have highlighted has a header row (titles).

For a simple list you can use a
paragraph sort. For instance the
list below
using paragraph sort.
For a more complicated list such as
the one below you should highlight the whole list including the headings and
choose the option for the list having a header row.
| First Name |
Surname |
Age |
| Susan |
Walker |
23 |
| James |
Wright |
28 |
| Edward |
Potter |
21 |

You can now choose a column to sort
by using the column heading. Make
sure you set the type as Number if you have figures as the list will not
sort correctly if you leave it as text. If
you have commas separating the items on your rows instead of tab stops you can
use the Options button to set the way your columns (fields) are
separated.

Here is the sorted list.
| First Name |
Surname |
Age |
| Edward |
Potter |
21 |
| Susan |
Walker |
23 |
| James |
Wright |
28 |
If your list does not sort correctly
you may have to manually set tabs yourself as you may end up with two tabs
between some fields using the standard tab stops.
