VirusesViruses are programs that can replicate (make copies of)
themselves on your computer and be transmitted to other computers, often by
e-mail. In the process of doing
this they may corrupt your computer or copy passwords, etc causing security
concerns. New viruses are being
created all the time by people intent on causing this type of damage.
Although you may have anti-virus software, it will not spot a new virus
arriving by e-mail if it has not been kept bang up-to-date or if you are one of
the first recipients of such a virus. If
you receive any unexpected e-mail with an attachment
it
could contain a virus, even if it appears to be from somebody you know.
Ask your IT support personnel for advice before opening such an e-mail or
ask the sender what their e-mail is about. Click here to return to the Outlook index. |
