Smoothing Lines

If you would rather have a curved line graph than a jagged one, Excel can change your line graph for you. Select the line you want to format by clicking on it or using the Chart Object Selector on the Chart Toolbar and then press CTRL + 1. Click on the Patterns section of the window to bring up the window shown below.

Place a tick in the Smoothed Line box and click OK, your line will now be curved. You can also use this window to add or change line markers and to make a line dashed, thicker or thinner. This can be useful when printing a line chart in black and white.
